Arrowhead Provincial Park
This issue’s End of the Road destination is a wonderful outdoor skating experience.
Winter-savvy Ontarians don’t need to be reminded that Arrowhead Provincial Park is the place to go for a magical ice skate each January, when the 1.3-km trail opens for the season. But it’s nice to get the kind of global recognition that came in 2024, when Travel & Leisure magazine placed it number one on a list of “18 Stunning Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks Around the World.” From Toronto, it’s about a three-hour drive to Arrowhead. It’s popular, so be sure to book your parking pass ahead of time. Make a day of it and consider stopping at some of these fun attractions — or take a break from driving — along the way.
