Helping Through Challenging Times

A Letter from Our President

As we listen to Members from all across the country, we know that the current economic situation in Canada is taking a toll on many Canadians and their families. At CAA, one of the fundamental rules that guides every one of us is to continuously build more benefits into the membership to help Members get through every challenge of life. During humanity’s darkest time at the height of the pandemic, we added new benefits to help Members quickly access health care while creating new partnerships with local businesses to provide everyday cost savings for our Members that included gasoline, food, household necessities, as well as cybersecurity education. We are pleased to see our Members make use of these benefits.

For our Ontario Members, our insurance company provided the first and largest premium refunds while also significantly reduced rates because it was simply the right thing to do during the pandemic when Members’ driving patterns changed so drastically. Today, our auto insurance rates for the drivers with strong driving records remain the best in the industry, and it remains our highest goal to continually lower costs and add more benefits. We support Ontario’s upcoming insurance reforms because the intent to lower insurance costs is the right one. However, these reforms provide coverage optionality which could lead some to inadvertently reduce coverage that might leave them financially vulnerable in the event of a tragic accident.

To help our Members navigate the Ontario auto insurance reforms, we will be providing dedicated education resources that will explain the government’s changes to the legislation and guide our Members to make the right decisions that are best suited to them. Our caring Associates are also ready to assist and help Members review their insurance coverages and the impact these may have on them. We know that every Member is different, and there is not one solution that fits all, so the solution needs to tailor to each individual Member. We know auto insurance isn’t a topic that is often discussed at the dinner table, and we hope that you will use our CAA Insurance agents and brokers as a sounding board to make the best decisions to protect you and your family.

I would also like to take this special moment to extend our heartfelt thank you to Marrianne Bridge, who has served as the Chair of the Board of Directors with the highest honour and greatest distinction. Marrianne’s sage counsel and advice has guided CAA Club Group to make the best decisions that have served in the best interest of our Members in Ontario and Manitoba. Marrianne’s caring and heartfelt leadership have truly personified the soul and character that is CAA. We are fortunate to have had Marrianne as our Chair, and are equally blessed to welcome Jean Desgagné as the incoming Chair of the Board. On behalf of every caring Associate at every company in CAA Club Group, thank you for being a valued Member of CAA.

Very best wishes,
